Walmart Store Information

Walmart stores are controlled and monitored from their headquarters operations center in Bentonville, Arkansas. This includes all of their systems, HVAC, Thermostats, Coolers, Freezers, Registers, Cameras, Etc. The systems that they have determined to be vital to their operations have been wired into a back up power supply in case they lose power. These include the HVAC, Coolers, Freezers, Emergency lighting and possibly a few other vital components. They have done this to cut down on lost revenue due to product loss in the event of a power issue.
What this means for us is that if we shut down any of these systems the operations center will power them back up within 30 - 60 seconds typically. So even if you shut off a breaker it is supplied with a back up power source and may be brought back on line.
If we have any type of emergency at their store that may require us to shut down or isolate any of these systems we were told to make sure we do the following.
- Make sure you have a manager (or high level associate in the absence of a manager) with you and contact the operations center through 1-800-WALMART (1-800-925-6278) Please confirm this number with the store manager!
The manager will be asked to provide the operations center with their name, employee number, store number and a password then the center will assist us in any capacity we need.
Our local Walmart stated that if the manager is not on site, the senior associate does have the password information.
It is probably our "best practice" to call them at any emergency so they are aware of an incident in their store.
